Expert Solution
What do you think of tax-policy to control greenhouse gases, given the theoretical and practical information you have learned?
Tax policy is one of the market -based policy that aims to protect by reducing or eliminating the pollution. “The most basic form of a market-based policy is a tax that sets a price on each unit of pollution.” (center for climate and energy solutions,2015). Thus, the tax policy is a tax that set price one unit of pollution. Therefore, the industry that produces the pollution has to pay for the amount of the pollution produced. In spite of that, the industry that produces the pollution trying to produce less pollution so it can pay less money in tax pollution. Because of this, that industry adopts the new technology that can guaranty a decrease of the pollution produced meaning a decrease on the taxes as well. Tax policy is one of the market-based that is effective to reduce the GHG, Therefore, tax policy can be used in two different ways to reduce GHG such as: the industry can be charged for the emission produced or good or services can be also charged Example tax on coal mining.
Would you support a carbon tax?
I support a tax on carbon even thought I will pay the price, I prefer to pay the price and living an environment less polluted.
What type of policy design would you support?
I really support the tax policy because I believe it’s kind of more effective than the other market-based policies.
