• The most surprising thing I learned about our food system is that every aspect to it actually contributes to environmental hazards like climate change, overuse of natural resources, and more. Initially, I felt that only one small aspect of food production would contribute to those things, such as transportation of food and poultry/other meat. I learned that every sector of the processing and manufacturing side of things affects climate change in their own ways. The patterns in our food system is another concept that I felt I could take away a lot of knowledge from.  It has made me reevaluate my own consumer decisions based more on my health now, as opposed to before. 
• A majority of the material we covered changed my perspective on our food system and the products that I consume daily. I have a changed mind-set about how I want to purchase only sustainable and organic food products now, even if they are a bit higher priced than other products. The information I learned just reinforced what I briefly knew about our food system, but it has motivated me to make different choices, and hopefully one day make a difference in combating things like food waste, climate change and food security, and other major issues in our food system.  
• At this point in time I don't have any questions regarding food systems. I think moving forward I want to continue my research and my personal habits and practices with what I know now. It's interesting that nearly everything is connected, especially agriculture and our environments health. I hope to become educated further on food systems as I enter my career after graduation. I think it's extremely important that I know as much as possible about our current food system constraints and barriers involving agricultural crops as I enter the world of Ag sciences. The future of agriculture is going to rely on food system innovations and better-built sustainable growing and production methods. That means that nearly everyone in the agricultural industry can play a role in contributing to the future of food security. 

I enjoyed this short but thorough class, and I felt like I got to engage with many of you over great topics and arguments!
