For this essay, you will conduct an in-depth analysis of race or gender (or a combination thereof) across various categories of popular culture. Choose one race/ethnicity (Hispanic/Latino, African American, Native American, Asian, etc.) or one gender (male, female, transgender, gay, etc.) to examine. If you wish, you may choose a combination race and gender, such as African American women. You will examine the portrayal of that race/ethnicity, gender, or combination in at least three categories/genres of popular culture. These may include but are not limited to the following: consumption, advertising, television, film, internet/social media, popular music, video games, fashion, sports, and comic books.
