Overview

Learning to research to discover the truth is very important in finding one’s way in our current culture. Sources are critical, as there are many who desire to bend the truth to fit their narrative. Discovering the path of ideas connected to art or technology in a given culture is also important to understanding its acceptance by the culture.

This assignment will help you sharpen your abilities to discern both historic and practical applications of research, following ideas, and drawing conclusions. Be sure your topic has been cleared by your instructor before starting your research.

Instructions

For your selected research topic, write a paper based on your research on a specific technology. Items to include are outlined as follows:

• The minimum word count requirement is 1500 words and does not include the bibliography, title, and footnotes.
• Use the appropriate formatting guidelines throughout this assignment (APA, MLA, Turabian, etc.) for your major/school. For SADA majors, use MLA guidelines.
• You must cite at least five sources. You must use in-text citations (regardless of format style). Sources should be listed at the end of the paragraph in which the information is and in the bibliography at the end of the paper. Use current formatting guidelines required by your school. Acceptable sources include scholarly articles (print or web), books, or magazines.

• Print-based references should have full bibliographic reference.
• Web-based references should contain the author, website, and URL for the source.
• For technology: the publish date of the article may be important as to whether it uses the most current information or technology.
• Required module readings are not included as an acceptable source to be used.
• Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source. Images from Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons may be used to support a post. These will not count toward the source requirement.
• Jerry Falwell Library Research Guides and databases or JSTOR for sources.
