A) Application of the SARA model problem-solving approach to a critical issue concerning the patterns or practices of the Minneapolis Police Department, in Minneapolis, Minnesota; B) Identification and analysis of the three most significant challenges facing law enforcement agencies in the United States today; and C) Proposal for sustainable solutions in response to each identified challenge. 1 ) Apply the SARA model problem-solving approach to the most significant problem you identify from Findings from the Minnesota Department of Human Rights pattern or practice Investigation into the Minneapolis Police Department, published April 27, 2022 (on Canvas). In response to information presented throughout our course this semester, identify and explain the three most significant challenges facing law enforcement agencies in the United States today and craft a proposal for sustainable solutions in response to each challenge through a fact-based situation analysis addressing the purpose, role and primary duties of police officers and the nature and relationship between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve. Address the use of force, including deadly force, approaches to crisis intervention, and how data and other information is presented through social media to influence opinion and impact public policy. 4) Lastly, emphasize solutions based upon policing by consent incorporating Sir Robert Peel's Principles of Law Enforcement and the President's Task Force on 21st Century Policing (2015) (on Canvas).
