1) Describe what a dark pattern is. Why is this type of design unethical? Have you experienced one of these online? If so, what was it? 

1. Pick one specific design feature that you've seen on a social media platform* Don't use the examples from the lecture (for example, autoplaying videos on Youtube; sponsored posts on your newsfeed; Snapstreaks on Snapchat, etc.). Analyze the ethics of this feature by answering these questions:
   • First, what would you think the designers intended with that feature?
   • Second, in practice, what are the unintended effects of that design feature? 
   • Third, if you could redesign that feature to make it more ethical, what would you design and why?
