Nurse and Patient Conflict

A young patient named Frankie comes into the emergency room with his parents. He is only 10 years old and comes with an injury on his arm. It seems like his injury is a fracture on his arm, but before Frankie can explain what has happened to him, his parents start explaining on his behalf. His parents are saying that he has injured himself while playing basketball with his friends. However, Frankie's demeanor is saying otherwise. It seems like he clearly wanted to say something, but he looks really scared to talk and he seems very reluctant to say antything. Your insticts are telling you that something is off thus you start to further examine him. After further physical examination, you find out that that there are some bruises on his body that does not seem like it is from just playing rough basketball. As a nurse that is examining him at the moment, you decide that this may be a case of a physical abuse. Your innerself is conflicted as you want to confront the parents about the other bruises and your suspicision, however, you do not want things to escalate and out of control.

What are some of the internal conflicts that can arise from this precarious situation?
