Immigration Film & Proposal

STEP ONE (5 points): Watch the film “Immigrant Nation: The Battle for the Dream’

STEP TWO (5 points): After watching and analyzing the film, answer each of the following questions in a minimum of three complete and fully-developed sentences:

1. How does the documentary film explain why efforts at immigration reform

(amnesty/egalization) has been blocked?

2. What do you think about the case of Elvira Arrellano? Was she justified in taking this action and what do you think about what happened to her?

3. More than 14 years later (after this film was made) why do you think there has been no immigration reform and why is it still a significant political issue?

STEP THREE (5 points): write a proposal for a new immigration reform policy. List 5 components of your reform policy, and include the following five elements in your proposal. Each component should be

explained in three or more fully-developed sentences, each containing fully-explained, expressed, and

supported ideas.

1. Adescription of how economic and political issues relating to immigration policy should be addressed

2. Adescription of how the border wall, immigration enforcement, immigration detention, and deportation should be addressed

3. Adescription of how human rights can be ensured or protected

4. Adescription of how your proposal would address legalization & citizenship

5. Aconcluding description of how you believe this proposal will resolve or improve the situation
