Project Topic The Title of my report: "The problem of security on a Local Area Network (LAN)" What the research will cover: The research will first describe what LAN is, types of LANs, and Internal Local Area networks' importance. Many traditional approaches to network security are not effective in modern local networks. The research will propose a prospective solution to secure Ethernet LANs. I will explore the different traditional approaches that have been a threat to the security of LANs. This research's main idea is to apply security measures in network interface devices that connect individual computers to the network. I will also address the network interface devices used in local area networks, such as network interface cards (NIC). The involvement of network interface cards eliminates the physical likeliness of sending unprotected data through the network. Implementation of data will be given for network management and data and key exchange. I will also carry the in-depth analysis of the proposed mechanism before concluding whether the proposed method is worth implementing. I will highlight the traditional approaches to network security, their advantages, and disadvantages to network security. The increasing demand for local area networks is due to the proliferation of network applications and devices. The introduction of information and communication technology has made local area networks readily available, easy to use, and affordable. Since many users use local area networks for commercial and domestic purposes, it is important to take care of security threats associated with the local area network problems. Therefore, the research paper will highlight the major threats and recommend solutions to such threats. The paper will further provide security measures that need to be taken to ensure local area networks are guided and that no data from these systems can be hacked. Purpose of the report The purpose of this report aims at exhibiting integrity, confidentiality, and availability of local area networks. Hackers have come up with ways of easily breaking into local networks and non-wireless networks. Therefore, network administrators need to be aware of such risks and stay put on any new risks. Users are also prone to such risks and need to take personal protective measures against such risks. Hence, the need to find solutions to the risks associate with local area network technologies. The report will provide an analysis of local area network technologies and threats associated with them. Following the easy availability of local area networks among people, there is a need to secure access protocols and architectural aspects associated with such networks. However, the report will outline the security threats associated with such networks and recommendations to secure the networks. The report's priority is to provide a safe and secure electronic environment for both domestic and commercial purposes.
