Trenton Bank Funding for Small Businesses

CREATING INFORMATION GRAPHICS AND INTEGRATING WITH OTHER PROGRAMS

  • *GETTING STARTED
  • Open the file SC_PPT19_EOM6-1_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as SC_PPT19_EOM6-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
    • Support_PPT19_EOM6-1_Banks.xlsx
    • Support_PPT19_EOM6-1_Outline.rtf
  • With the file SC_PPT19_EOM6-1_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. As part of your duties as an analyst in the Business Accounts Department for Trenton Bank in New Jersey, you've developed a presentation about funding options available for small businesses in the area. You edit the presentation before delivering it at a meeting of small business owners.

Begin by inserting slides from the outline contained in Support_PPT19_EOM6-1_Outline.rtf so that the new slides follow Slide 1.
  2. On Slide 2 ("How Your Business Benefits"), reset the slide layout. On Slide 3 ("Who Can Apply?"), reset the slide layout. The layouts of both slides now match the presentation.
  3. Clear all the formatting from the table on Slide 4 ("Trenton Bank by the Numbers"). Select the second line style (a dashed line) in the selection of border line styles. Select 3 point for the border weight. Select Dark Green, Accent 4, Darker 50% for the pen color. Select the table, then reapply the outside border to view the enhancements. Apply the Offset Bottom Left shadow effect to the table cells.
  4. On Slide 5 ("Advisory Services"), split the third cell in row 1 so that it becomes two cells. Type Sample Tools Available in the new cell (now the first cell in column 3). Delete column 4, which is blank. Select the entire table. Resize the table by dragging the right middle handle to within about .5" of the right side of the slide. Modify columns widths so that none of the lines wrap and the width of column 3 is approximately 4.6". Fix the width of column 1 at exactly 3.8". Fix the height of row 3 (contains Sales & Marketing) at exactly 0.5".
  5. On Slide 6 ("Loans Overview"), insert a new Excel Spreadsheet consisting of four rows and two columns with the data shown in Table 1.

* Table 1: Data for Embedded Worksheet

2017

$22.9 million

2018

$24.3 million

2019

$19.6 million

2020

$14.5 million

  1. With Slide 6 ("Loans Overview") still displaying, change the font size of the embedded data to 24 point. Adjust column widths so that all the data is visible. (Hint - Use Auto fit to adjust width of Column B.) Adjust the worksheet size so that only the two columns and four rows with data are visible. Change the value in cell B2 to $23.6 million. Exit the worksheet. Position the worksheet on the slide as shown in Figure 1.
  2. Open the file Support_PPT19_EOM6-1_Banks.xlsx and copy the pie chart. Paste the pie chart as a embedded object on Slide 7 ("Loans by Institution") using the Use Destination Theme & embedded workbook paste option. Close the workbook in Excel. Resize the pie chart to approximately 4.5" in Height and 7" in Width. Position the pie chart on the slide as shown in Figure 2.
  3. On Slide 8, change the colors of the pie chart to Colorful Palette 4. Add a chart title at the Above Chart position using the text Breakdown of Loans by Sector. Add a legend to the right of the pie chart. Add data labels to Outside End. Increase the font size of the data labels to 18 point. Explode the pie chart slice representing Manufacturing by 12%. Resize the pie chart proportionally so that it is approximately 5.3" in Height and 9" in Width and position it so that the completed chart appears as shown in Figure 3.
  4. In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
