GETTING STARTED

  • Open the file NP_WD19_EOM3-2_FirstLastName_1.docx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as NP_WD19_EOM3-2_FirstLastName_2.docx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .docx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • With the file NP_WD19_EOM3-2_FirstLastName_2.docx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer.
    • If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. You work in the Financial Affairs office of Milton University and are completing the final draft of the university's annual report.

    Change the hyphenation option so the document hyphenates automatically.
  2. In the list after the "By the Numbers" heading, demote the paragraphs beginning "About 90 percent…" and "For families with incomes…" by one level. Promote the paragraph "Sustainability" by one level.
  3. On page 2, in the blank paragraph in the "Financial Highlights" section, insert a table with 3 columns and 4 rows, and then enter the data shown in Table 1.

  1. Sort the table after the "Scholarship Campaign" heading in ascending order by the "Contributor" column. Delete one of the duplicate "Friends" rows. In the blank cell of the Amount column, insert a formula that sums the values above the cell, and then resize column A (the "Contributor" column) to its best fit.
  2. Align the text in the "Amount" cell (cell B1) using the Align Top Center option. Align the dollar amounts in the "Amount" column (cells B2 to B6) using the Align Top Right option.
  3. In the table after the "New Scholarships" heading, insert a column to the right of the "Annual Amount" column and enter the data shown in Table 2.

  1. Apply the List Table 4—Accent 1 table style to the "New Scholarships" table. Remove the First Column table style option. Add a Right border to the "Scholarship" and "Annual Amount" columns, and then change the color of the borders to Blue-Gray, Accent 1.
  2. On each line of the list after "Endowed Professorships" heading, set a 4.0" left tab stop with leader option 2 (the dotted leader). Press TAB to replace the space between the word "Professorship" and the department name in the list.
  3. Insert the Slice 1 header, apply the Different First Page option for the header, and then close the Header & Footer Tools.
  4. Insert a cover page using the built-in Slice (Dark) style. Use Annual Report to replace the Document Title placeholder, and use Milton University to replace the Document Subtitle placeholder.

Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
