Civic Inquiry is the process of looking into the civil implications of a subject of study and the public ramifications of the subject of study. The process of civic inquiry entails examining decisions made concerning various entities to evaluate various points of view.

Civic sensibility is the ability to create a public perception in which the participants can resonate with a given ideology. When people feel like they belong, civic sensibility emerges and they feel the urge to participate more. Students in various disciplines can be encouraged to develop a sense of sensibility in education so they perform better in those disciplines. Other scholars define civic sensibility as the understanding of democracy both at the macro level and the micro levels of life

I currently undertake Business Administration. Civic sensibility has a great role to play in the learning process and civic learning. The 21st-century framework for civil learning and democracy brings about different capabilities that can be realized through the learning of different disciplines and courses. The capabilities contained in the 21st-century framework include; knowledge, skills, collective action, and values. In undertaking the Business and Administration course, I have benefited from numerous capabilities including; skills, knowledge, and collective action. The core capabilities emanating from the study of BA will be crucial in creating civic sensibility in the future.

  1. Knowledge- Through studying BA, I have managed to gain significant knowledge in both the business world and also in social aspects.
  2. Skills – the study of BA has equipped me with numerous skills. These skills include analytical skills, creative thinking, and gathering and evaluating multiple information sources.
  3. Collective action- BA course includes numerous group discussions and group works that have equipped me with collective action capabilities. Through the study of BA, I have been in a position to learn problem-solving attributes with consulting other team members.

As a business course, the BA is tasked with providing students with both skills and knowledge, as well as ensuring that they learn social skills. Directly taught skills and knowledge receive more attention. Students are expected to gain these skills through interaction with other students, and attributes such as collective action and values are explicitly implied.
